Mage Enchants - BiS Enchants
Current for Patch 3.3

Finding a list for the best Mage enchants was a tough thing to do! Google was of little help. I can't tell you how many outdated Mage enchant pages I found. But I have gathered up a list of the best enchants for each Mage gear slot.

Hope this helps!

Head - Arcanum of Burning Mysteries
Shoulder - Greater Inscription of the Storm
Cloak - Greater Speed
Chest -
Powerful Stats, or Super Stats
Wrist - Superior Spellpower
Hands - Exceptional Spell Power
Belt - Eternal Belt Buckle w/ Runed Cardinal Ruby
Legs - Brilliant Spellthread
Feet - Tuskarr's Vitality or Icewalker
Weapon - Mighty Spellpower or Greater Spellpower (Staff)

Everything here should be pretty self-explanatory. When choosing boot enchants, it depends if you want the speed from Tuskarr's Vitality or the DPS from Icewalker. Tuskarr's will help in fights where you are moving around. Icewalker just help you blast away. Personal choice in my opinion.

For the chest enchant, there isn't a huge difference between +10 to all stats, and +8 to all stats. If you need to opt for the cheaper version, there's nothing wrong with that.

WoW Mage Gems - BiS Gems

Mage Gems - BiS
Current for Patch 3.3

According to all the research I have done, the best information I can gather is that Mages will be wanting to stack spell power, spell power, and more spell power. Once you are in your Epic gear, +hit rating should already be there, so you can focus your attention elsewhere. There is argument for haste rating, as that scales well with Arcane and some of the Tier 9 gear.

The stats a PvE Mage will want to gem for goes in this order:

  1. Spell Power
  2. Hit Rating
  3. Haste Rating
  4. Critical Strike Rating
  5. Spell Penetration
  6. Intellect
  7. Spirit
  8. Stamina

Hit Rating, as mentioned above, should be reached with Epic quality gear. So once you have 17% spell hit, you remove all misses from combat. Keep in mind particular raid buffs that will increase your hit rating also.

After spell power, spell power, spell power, and some haste, everything else is pretty weak comparably. For me, I'm stacking spell power, then adding haste as needed.
